Renew Your Mind:
Transform Your Life
Romans 12:2 commands us to not be conformed to this world, but to renew our mind and be transformed. Then we will know God’s good and pleasing will.
In verse one of Romans 12 Paul tells us to offer our bodies as LIVING sacrifices and declares that to be our act of worship and God finds it pleasing.
Then verse two tells us how to do that.
It all begins in the mind.
What are you thinking about?
What are you allowing to take up space in your mind?
What is influencing your subconscious?
There are three definitions to the word “mind”. Most frequently, we assume it is the equivalent to the brain—the part where active, conscious thought and decisions are made.
However, it is more complex than that. As humans we are able to have thoughts, experience emotions, have our own perceptions and desires. We even have imaginations.
This is the mind. It encompasses all parts of our brain—what we are actively thinking about, what we are imagining, and our emotions and perceptions.
That’s a lot to be aware of and work on renewing.
But our mind controls everything else, so God tells us to learn to think and act according to His word, and He will reward us. His ways will be pleasing to us. Not because we cease to exist as a person, but because we will become the person He created us to be.
The reward of no longer conforming to the world and worldly thinking but diligently renewing our minds is a life of freedom and abundance. It is a life full of Kingdom purpose. It is a life of high value here and for eternity.
Here at Life 12:2 we are striving to renew our mind daily. To grow in the ways of Christ to be the LIVING sacrifice He has called us to be.
What you can expect from us is content that deals with everyday life. We are Christians, but this isn’t a “Christian” blog.
Our goal is to be more Christ-like and grow in our understanding of who our Heavenly Father is. This is not about being “Christian”, but rather exploring life as a disciple of Christ.
Secret Easter
What this small change has done is help us better focus on Easter and what it is that we are celebrating. It also gave us a portion of the day that is ours as a family. With church in the morning and family gatherings in the afternoon it felt like we were just checking all the boxes without actually taking time to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and celebrate the new life we have in Him.
What You Consume Determines What You Think About
We live in a world where there is no public standard for what is morally acceptable. In the eighteenth century social morals were based on the Bible, even if you didn’t believe in it. It provided an upright way of living and helped define right and wrong.
Mind Over Motivation
Transformation occurs from repeatedly doing the two things—renewing your mind and changing your behavior. Do something different because you have a new perspective.
What Happens After You Pray? Transform Your Prayers into Action
You have prayed. Maybe the first time, and maybe the hundredth time. And each time you pray you are stuck wondering what happens now. God promises He hears and He answers, but it doesn’t always feel like it. Especially if you are repeating the same requests. So you wait and see. Not really convinced anything will be different. Or maybe you figure it is another area your attitude needs to change, so you try to be more positive and more optimistic in general. But the need goes unmet. Again. And it seems like, once again, God has ignored you.
Transform Your Mind: New Year, New You
It is a time when we pick resolutions that we vow to keep. For real this year, unlike last year and the year before. It is a time we take stock of all our failings and decide we must change everything about ourselves to be successful and have a better year.
